The narrator, that is all. Candide is excellent.
Oh my god, I fell asleep, this guy sounds so stoned.
Skipping the pretentious 'introduction', it actually starts around 7:28.
Because of the people who were forced to read this.
I love Voltaire, thanks for making this easy to just listen to in the background.

:p
Boring lecture ever seen here as no video to support the lecture at all, not interested indeed!
to enjoy candide you must be on heavy drugs, or not, or on a little bit of drugs. actually anyone can enjoy a good voltaire.
Thanks for posting this all-time classic
i am moroccan and i have to do the same , ugh –'
Gracias.
Theres no books in spanish?
BOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGG!
On the other hand, the publishing industry is probably one of the most environmentally unfriendly things on the planet. Electronic copies may not smell as nice, but they won't release anything like as many pollutants…
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why so many dislikes?
The narrator must be on heavy drugs to be talking like that…
casi no entiendo la lectura, pero se oye tan bello, Ecuador.
This book should evoke philosophical thoughts that are very relevant to this day//
In colleges across the world the intro, "Candide never bored anybody except William Wordsworth" triggers murmered, 'bores me too' and a few 'I must be a freakin' genius Wordsmith' from English majors dreamin of pennin' the next Great American Novel. Candide is not relevant today which makes it more of a history of where we've been rather than really evoking any new thought as it did in its day. Trite.
<-agree. I love me ipad but not curling up at nite wid it & i scart to read in de bubbly bath
Candide… Almost every french student has to read/analyse it. It's quite boring. 🙁
what are these books about ? was reading teslas biography and these were mentioned..
Thank you.
@pogopogopogo3 …..For me its not me totally rejecting E-Books, but Candides 2 hours plus! thats alot of memory use for the machine! i must listen to it in 15 minute bits!
@acerb45666555 Actually I'm with you.. and I have a paper copy of Candide, but I much prefer listening to someone else read than reading to myself.
@pogopogopogo3 ….It's>>Tradition! and real book paper smells good! traditional libraries must be preserved!
@acerb45666555 wow we've got a badass over here! sticking it to Big Audiobook huh?
i prefer the traditional "book" with real pages of real paper! i shall buy Voltaires book from a real shelf in a real shop! none of this E-Bay nonsense!
zzzz
this is a badass book!
